Are you feeling tired? Exhausted for seemingly no reason? Deflated? Gloomy? Joyless? Straight up depressed?
You are not alone.
I’ve spoken with so many women in the last week who are struggling to feel good right now. You are really and truly not alone.
While I don’t know the specifics of your life, your circumstances or your story, I do know we’re all dealing with a lot right now. And because we are all dealing with a lot, it’s important that you prioritize whatever it takes for you to feel good.
I’m not talking about those fleeting moments of feeling good – like the way those first few bites of ice cream taste, or the way it feels good to just not get dressed or do your hair for a day or two over the weekend.
I’m talking about the lasting moments of feeling good that build upon each other to create a steady state of being that is powerful and resilient.
I’m talking about making decisions that will lead to and create more joy and good feelings in your body and life – not just for the moment, but for extended periods of time.
It’s time to get fierce about feeling good.
Because as much as we might think joy should just come naturally, and pleasure is something that just happens, life in 2021 is showing us that if we aren’t deliberate about doing things to feel good, there is a very good chance we won’t.
If we aren’t intentional about our pleasure then, all color might disappear from our lives. Everything turns black and white, our days become an endless list of responsibilities and tasks, and we start to look like a wilting flower, hungry and thirsty for anything life-giving.
If we don’t consciously choose to invite happiness, enjoyment and delight into our daily lives, there is a very strong possibility we will be without them, left to wonder why we feel so crappy, and what’s wrong with us.
How do you choose to invite joy into your life?
You begin by giving yourself permission to feel good.
You begin by making space for beauty and pleasure – in your home, in your schedule, amidst all of your responsibilities in your busy, full, high-speed life.
You begin by making a list of the things that bring you lasting joy – fresh flowers, a walk outside, dancing, laughing, dressing in bright colors, getting enough quality sleep, staying hydrated, eating in a way that makes your body hum with life force – and then you schedule and do those things ritually, regularly, every day.
It feels good when you do.
And feeling good supports all of who you are.
Because the times we are living in require us to think about our lives differently. They require us to live and do our lives differently.
Because you are not a man. You are a full bodied, warm-blooded, whole-hearted woman with many facets, many faces, and many desires and dreams.
Because the simple everyday things that help you to feel good are what will get you through – not just by the skin of your teeth, but with presence, power, flair, gratitude and gusto.
It’s time to get fierce about feeling good. It’s time to prioritize it. Make it a standard, non-negotiable, essential thing in your life. Recognize it is part and parcel of your highest caliber business, parenting, financial and thriving relationship strategy.
It’s time to make pleasure and feeling good essential nutrients in your life – even more important than your supplements, a green smoothie, or a dental check-up.
Vitamin P (P is for pleasure!) is the healing panacea women everywhere have been looking for. Get fierce about preserving its presence in your life.
Because you, my dear woman, are more than worth it.
