Have you ever noticed that your experience of something can shift in an instant when you shift your perspective? One moment you can feel heavy, resentful and very negative about something, or someone… but when you shift your thinking about it, or you decide to look at the scenario from a different vantage point, all of a sudden you can feel positive and light and free.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to approach and meet anything, any situation, any challenge in a way that feels good to you? Well, here’s the trick! When you bring the element of beauty into your life and into your mindset, the outcome is far more positive, comfortable and fabulous.
I’m sure you’re wondering, “How do I bring beauty to my mindset?” Great question! Let me break this down for you so it’s super clear and you can begin implementing this right away.
It can be really easy to feel overwhelmed and burdened by life. Let’s be honest, things are moving at a very rapid pace these days, time feels like it’s passing by quicker than ever, and most of us have to-do lists that are 8 miles long and counting. When life feels like it’s living you, instead of you living your life, it’s very common to slip into a mindset that feels obligated, overly responsible and exhausted – all of the time. It can literally feel like if one more thing winds up in your lap, you’re going to freak out!
The reaction to overwhelm can look a lot like negativity. You might begin looking at your life as a long list of ‘have to’s’ and ‘shoulds’: I should go to the gym. I have to file all of that paperwork in my office. I should go to my high school reunion. I have to wear this ugly dress for my friend’s wedding. I should skip dessert. I have to go to the dentist…
Doesn’t that list above feel heavy to you? That is not a life I want to be living, and if you’re honest with yourself, you don’t want to be living that kind of life, either.
When you decide to take on a Beauty Mindset, and infuse beauty into your life, into your thinking and into the way you approach things (even going to the dentist!), your life takes on an entirely different attitude and energy. You begin to raise the vibration of your thinking and being, and as a result, even the things you need to do that you might not be super jazzed about don’t seem that bad.
If you look at the examples above, and you infuse beauty into your thinking about them, this is what that list could look and feel like:
- I know going to the gym helps me to look and feel my best, and I really do enjoy moving my body. What could I do at the gym today that will feel really delicious and leave me feeling more vibrant and alive afterward? Oh! I can even take my mp3 player with me and catch up on that recording I have been wanting to listen to. And I can wear my super cute sneakers…
- Wow! There is a tall stack of paperwork in my office that needs to be filed and sorted. Goodness, this stack is really holding a lot of energy for me. It’s going to feel so good to have that taken care of, all put away and handled. I love feeling like I’m on top of things, that I’m up to date with everything, and that everything has its place. Oh! And it’s going to be awesome to have a clear, clean desktop for Monday morning…
- I haven’t seen my high school classmates for 20+ years. Wow. I know I’d really like to connect with X, Y and Z while I’m there. How can I have this experience feel completely exciting and good to me? I’m going to take very good care of myself, eat well and dress in a way that leaves me feeling beautiful and at ease. I give myself full permission to leave if I feel like I need to, or stay if I’m having a really good time. It’s going to be so good to see everyone and to share all of the excitement that’s going on in my life these days.
- I love my friend, and I’m so happy I get to be a part of her special day. It feels really good to be able to support her as one of her bridesmaids and to celebrate her in this way. No matter what I’m wearing I choose to radiate my own brand of beauty, vitality and warmth. I choose to allow my beauty, confidence and joy to express themselves no matter what, and I am going to have so much fun!
As you can see, there is a distinctly different way that I’m talking to myself here. It doesn’t feel heavy. It feels expansive and inspired. This perspective is full of beauty, as if life is a gift and everyday is an opportunity to unwrap something gorgeous, unexpected and completely spectacular. This is the power and joy that a Beauty Mindset can bring to your life.
A Beauty Mindset is a choice. You can always choose something else, something that feels heavy, obligated and trite. A lot of people choose that for themselves. But you can also choose to live life in a way where beauty, buoyancy and positivity reign.
