As difficult as 2020 has been with so many…
Curve balls
Things to grieve
Loss and tragedy
Things that will never be what they once were
More responsibilities on our plates
Uncertainties about what lies ahead
…we do know that as we enter into 2021 much remains the same.
I’m in touch with so many women who feel like their lives are one big no-end-in-sight slog through each and every day. They feel like they’re hanging on by their fingernails, just barely making it.
When life looks and feels like this, it’s easy to feel like we’re victims to our own circumstances and lives.
I am not minimizing the pressures and strains that we’re all feeling. I am not glossing over the very real challenges and difficulties 2020 has served up. This has been a cuss word filled year, and we’re all going to be living in the status quo for who knows how much longer.
And… it’s important to remember that when you can’t change the situation, you are challenged to change yourself!
If you haven’t taken some time to feel all of your feelings about what 2020 has been about for you and so many others, give yourself a moment. Or three.
Cry.
Rage.
Scream.
Punch.
Kick.
Let your fears run amuck.
Feel the power of your emotions.
Let them enliven you.
Because bottling all of that up is exhausting, and you definitely need your energy for other things. You need that energy for 2021. Slow down or stop, and then FEEL. It’s so much easier to find a better feeling, more aligned way forward for yourself from this place.
When we slow down and feel, we also get in touch with the parts of ourselves that are infinitely wise and clear in their knowing. These are the parts of us that are intimately connected to our dreams and desires. They’re BFFs with our soul. They’re part and parcel of our intuition, our in-the-bones deep knowing, and our unshakeable, relentless and undeniable truth.
Choosing to face and feel it all – the wonderful, the ugly, and everything in between – is such a powerful way to choose yourself in 2021. It’s not for the faint of heart, but it IS something that can change your life for the better.
When you do this, you’ll get in touch with your innate wisdom – the part of you that simply knows what it knows and is unapologetic about that knowing. I know you’ll be amazed and delighted by what you find there.
It might tell you it’s time to take some painting classes, or it’s time to sell your home and become a nomad. It might tell you it’s time to start that baking business you’ve been putting off, or that your primary relationship needs some serious TLC.
No matter what it tells you, even if it doesn’t make sense, it isn’t rational, and it feels a bit crazy, there is wisdom in it. You will feel it in your bones – even if it freaks you out at the same time.
Sometimes a hefty dose of crazy is the sanest thing we can bring into our lives.
This is just one example of choosing yourself – choosing to honor the truth that lives inside of you, however raw or seemingly unrealistic, and follow it instead of something you’ve think or have been told you should do.
I am committed, wholeheartedly, to facing my fears, feeling it all, and choosing myself in 2021 and beyond. I hope you’ll join me. It’s a magical, wonder-filled journey unlike any other. And it’s waiting for you to choose it.
Lots of love,
Alicia
