One day you’re feeling on top of the world, like you’re the quintessential bad ass, and there’s nothing that can stop you.
The next day? You’re feeling totally wobbly, questioning everything, lacking direction, clarity and purpose, and ready to eat your weight in chocolate.
If you’re vacillating back and forth like this, even if it’s only on occasion, you might feel like you’re a fraud, or that all of the work you’ve been doing on yourself hasn’t actually “worked”, or that there’s something seriously wrong with you.
I mean, how can you still have wobbly days like this?
I’m here to tell you there’s nothing wrong with you, you’re not a fraud, and you’re not a failure, either.
I’m here to remind you that you’re human, there are some seriously intense things going on in our world, and your ups and downs are nothing to feel bad about.
I’m here to inspire you to be super generous with yourself right now.
You’re juggling a lot. You’re facing a lot of unknowns. There’s so much happening in the world right now that is incredibly emotionally charged.
This is a time to step out of self-judgment and into gentleness and great care.
This is a time to step into an even greater level of self-honoring.
Make a list of things that give you energy, inspire you and set your passions on fire – things that light you up and remind you that you’re alive when you’re doing them and for some time after. Commit to doing one thing every couple of days for yourself. They will fuel you during this time.
Look around and ask yourself how you can receive more support for yourself right now – things you can do for yourself or ask for from others. Who can you reach out to for help? Who can you reach out to for connection? What do you know you can be doing more of to support yourself right now? Do these things. Schedule them on a regular basis. Follow through. They will buoy and nourish you during this time.
How can you create or bring more comfort into your life right now? What soothes your nerves? What calms your mind? What brings peace into your body, home, and work life? What will help you unwind at the end of a stressful day, or support you in those moments when you feel like your head is going to explode? Make a list. Do these things regularly. They will deeply nourish you during this time.
Take stock of the things in your life that you can put on hold for now or maybe even let go of completely. It’s okay to simplify and streamline your life, if even it’s just a little here and there. You don’t have to do more. In fact, how can you do less? Make a list. Prioritize the things that really matter most. Consider if the things that aren’t priorities even need to be there right now. This will help you to breathe easier during this time.
This is an exceptional time that calls for exceptional acts of generosity towards self.
This is not a time to be stingy with sleep, healthy eating, moving your body in joy-inducing ways, carving out some unstructured time for yourself, or your self-care rituals at the end of the day.
This is a time to double down on the simple things that make you and your life feel amazing.
So, be generous with yourself this week, dear one. Practice immense generosity towards yourself.
You’re worth it.
