More often than not, when clients first start working with me it’s because they want to improve their health in some way. For many, there’s been a long-standing health-related issue that hasn’t been resolved with other approaches – be it chronic weight issues, an auto-immune condition, hormone imbalances, allergies, food sensitivities, mystery illnesses, and more.
But what we always inevitably uncover is that they’ve actually come to me for so much more. Their health, or lack thereof, becomes a gateway to going deeper – to discovering what lies beneath the symptom or chronic condition that’s presenting itself to my client.
One of my clients learned to recognize that when she didn’t speak up for herself, her rheumatoid arthritis would flare up. She learned how to honor and use her voice, and to gracefully navigate situations that used to scare her into silence. Through our work together, the application of a lot of tools and a renewed sense of self-awareness, she’s been RA flare-up free for nearly 2 years now.
Another client of mine had been navigating debilitating IBS symptoms for nearly 3 decades. As we increased her awareness of and appreciation for her body, she learned to identify and ameliorate the major stressors in her life. She changed jobs, found a team of medical professionals that met her needs better, and started paying attention to what her body really needed instead of judging what it was or wasn’t doing right.
Since our work together began, she’s traveled to places she used to only dream of, she’s dated with the ease and grace she desired, and she’s found a new rhythm to her life that supports her beauty, vitality and joy better than ever before.
Yet another client of mine had been in chronic pain for years. By implementing specific strategies and unearthing decades-old feelings of powerlessness and constantly needing to prove her worth, she became a fierce advocate for herself. She learned to leave a lifelong pattern of self-sacrifice behind, and instead mastered the art of being true to herself. She now lives pain free (!!!) and is the kind of career woman and mom she’s always wanted to be.
I could share so many stories about my clients who’ve lost massive amounts of weight, overcome hormonal imbalances, recovered from exhaustion, and navigated their way through chronic pain and illness with integrity, humor and grace. But what’s most important for me to share with you here is that true vitality and health are intimately connected to how well a woman knows how to honor herself.
In a world that entices us to ignore and override our truth, it takes a lot of courage to truly honor yourself.
But when you do, you gain so much more than you could ever imagine. And so do the people you love.
More than any diet, methodology, philosophy, or information that I share with my clients, learning to self-honor is THE key to reclaiming and sustaining vitality and health. Without self-honoring, none of the rest matters. Your very health and happiness depend upon your ability to be true to yourself.
It’s the most important skill you will ever learn. Once you’ve learned to become a self-honoring woman, everything changes for the better. Isn’t it time you discovered how to hold yourself in the highest regard?
