My one word for 2019 is CHOICE.
This one word reminds me that no matter the circumstance, no matter what’s happening, or how busy I get, or how many balls I’m juggling at the same time, I have a CHOICE.
I get to CHOOSE how I show up, how I respond, how I interpret an experience, how much energy I give to something or someone, and even how much joy and happiness I allow to come through me in any given moment.
I get to choose between playing with my son or cleaning up the kitchen. I get to choose between being a mom that’s always rushing and hurrying, and being a mom who is okay with slowing things down and being late, but being super present.
I, and only I, get to choose how I talk to myself, how I relate to myself, how generous I’m being with myself, and how much goodness I’ll allow myself to receive.
I get to choose to love the parts of myself that I’ve been told or have convinced myself are unlovable… or not.
I’m also the one who chooses between doing, or not doing, the daily practices that support me in looking and feeling my best.
This last one I mention here – the daily practices that support me – is one of the MOST important and essential choices I make every single day. That’s because these practices not only support my physical health and vitality, but they create a positive ripple effect into every area of my life.
I know that you know this.
You understand that taking care of your physical body also supports your mental and emotional health. You know that when you look and feel good it boosts your confidence and you show up and operate BETTER than when you look and feel… blah.
And yet, so often we convince ourselves that we just CAN’T do the things that support us the most. They take too long. They’re not convenient. We don’t have that special ingredient on hand.
We’re too tired, busy, overwhelmed, annoyed, fed up… or whatever else is going on outside and inside of us in any given moment.
When we’re feeling stressed and stretched the idea of THRIVING in our lives, and of looking and feeling good… well, they go right out the window. They’re just not the priority when you’re juggling work, home life, and everything else you pour your heart and soul into.
For some reason the idea of actually taking care of ourselves feels too daunting, too time consuming, and too high maintenance – NONE of which are true. Looking and feeling good just takes some simple know-how, a little shuffling and re-prioritization, and an honest desire to FEEL GOOD more often than not.
Looking and feeling good DOES require some effort and devotion on your part. I’d be lying to you if I said anything otherwise. But the rewards of doing this for YOU… Oh my goodness, the rewards! They go FAR beyond just looking and feeling good.
So, why not CHOOSE to have a body and a life that looks and feels GOOD to you? All you have to do is CHOOSE to nourish yourself a little bit (or a lot) on every level, every day.
In the process, you’ll create more vitality, beauty and freedom in your body and in every area of your life.
What will you choose?
With love and Transcendent Health,
Alicia
