I became a chef years ago because there are a lot of foods that don’t agree with my body. I had started to feel so limited by what I could eat that eating itself became a source of misery and denial in my life, and I knew that was no way to live!
So, years later when I started to breastfeed and was presented with a hefty list of “no-no” foods in addition to the limitations I already live with, I didn’t think much of it. I can make just about anything taste amazing with the right ingredients on hand!
Enter my Rich & Creamy Haute Cocoa recipe. It’s actually gluten, dairy, soy, and completely sugar free… and there’s no chocolate in it, either! ;0
This recipe has helped me to stay sane during this holiday season when I normally enjoy my fair share of chocolate. It’s very rich, deliciously decadent, creamy and smooth. And it’s filled with gorgeous ingredients that will make your skin glow and your heart sing. I can honestly say that I don’t even miss the chocolate… which is really saying something!
Rich & Creamy Haute Cocoa
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Yield: 64 oz.
2 Tbsp virgin coconut oil
2 Tbsp raw cashew butter
1 Tbsp raw pecan butter
2 Tbsp raw, shelled hemp seeds
¼ cup raw carob powder
1 tsp chocolate extract or 30 drops chocolate medicine flower essence
100 drops chocolate flavored stevia liquid
pinch of high mineral salt
64 oz. hot water
- Place all of the ingredients into a tall blender carafe that can hold and blend 64ounces of liquid safely. If your blender carafe is not this big, consider making this recipe in batches or reduce the amount of liquid for a thicker cocoa experience
- Secure the lid on tightly, and place a towel over the lid to ensure that no hot liquid leaks out from the lid
- Blend until completely liquefied and creamy – about 15-20 seconds in a high-speed blender
- Serve in mugs immediately and enjoy
- As an option, you can sprinkle a little cinnamon, or grate a smidgen of your favorite chocolate on top of each serving – if that suits you
- Enjoy!
